Wayland Youth Basketball (WYB) is an organization that provides programs for girls and boys in Kindergarten through grade 8. WYB's programs include participation in two leagues, the Tri-Town Youth Basketball League, which is a recreational league formed with the towns of Wayland, Weston, Lincoln and Hanscom AFB,and MetroWest Basketball, which is a more competitive league in which we compete with a number of other towns in the greater MetroWest area. In addition, WYB also has a K-2 Program on Saturday mornings for kids in Kindergarten through 2nd grade to get them started in basketball. Participation in the MetroWest League is open to all children who live in Wayland and to METCO students attending Wayland Schools. In the Tri-Town League and the K-2 Program, children who do not live in Wayland but attend Wayland schools (even if not part of the METCO program) are also eligible to participate.
Other WYB events held during the season include the coaches clinic (expected to be held in November) and the end-of-season Pizza Party. We also will once again be taking a group to a Boston Celtics game where 25 kids get to participate in the "Kids' Tunnel" and high five the Celtics players as they come out on the floor for the second half. This always popular event is currently scheduled for March 2011.
