WELCOME TO METROWEST BASKETBALL
MetroWest (MW) is a competitive travel league with teams from throughout the greater MetroWest region. Teams consist of boys or girls in a single grade. Wayland currently fields teams in grades 5 through 8 for girls and 4 through 8 for boys. Exceptionally skilled 4th graders may try out for the girls 5th grade team. Tryouts are required for selection to a MetroWest team and not all who try out for a team are selected.
Players and their families should recognize that playing on a MetroWest team requires a strong commitment of time and effort. Teams practice twice each week and have games on Sundays in a variety of towns. Practices begin in late October and the season ends with playoffs during the second week of March. Games are generally held during the first weekend of the December school vacation and on both Sundays of the February school vacation.
All players selected for a team are guaranteed to play a minimum of 25% of each regular season game. Additional playing time is allocated based on skill level, effort and commitment to practice.
REGISTRATION FOR 2010-2011 WILL OPEN IN SEPTEMBER, STAY TUNED
The cost of registration for participation in this league is $150. To register your child, please click on the "Register Online" tab to the left. A $25 late fee is applied starting October 01, 2010.
There may be an additional cost for uniforms if you don't already have one. Players who have uniforms from prior years are welcome to wear them again this year. The fee also includes a pre-season tournament in Hopkinton and the year-end pizza party.

TRYOUTS FOR THE 2010-2011 SEASON
Tryouts are held to determine the players best qualified to play on each team. This year, the boys' tryouts will be held on Sunday, October 3rd from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at the Wayland High School Field House and on Monday, October 4th from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at the Wayland Town Building Gym. The girls' tryouts will be held on Sunday, October 3rd from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the Wayland Middle School and on Tuesday, October 5th from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at the Wayland Middle School.
All potential players are expected to attend both tryout sessions. Having played on a MetroWest team in a previous year does not guarantee selection for this year.
